LACONIA — The New Hampshire Food Bank's mobile food pantry will visit Lakes Region Community College from noon to 2 p.m., or while supplies last, on Friday, Jan. 16.
LRCC is located at 379 Belmont Road.
The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities NH, operates drive-through style mobile food pantries across the Granite State. Another stop is scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Littleton Elk’s Club, 42 Main St., in Bethlehem.
Food distributions take place on a first-come, first-served basis. Each household will receive an assortment of produce and shelf-stable foods. Anyone in need of food assistance is welcome to attend; there are no identification or other requirements.
NH Food Bank supplies millions of pounds of food annually to more than 400 agencies including food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s programs and senior centers, among others, according to their website. The organization operates in all of New Hampshire’s 10 counties.
The program found its start in 1984 on World Food Day, and distributed 250,000 pounds of food in its first year. At the time, the food bank operated out of a 600-square-foot garage. It’s since moved into a 60,000-square-foot facility in Manchester, where it's operated since August 2010.
In 2024, the New Hampshire Food Bank distributed more than 17 million pounds of non-perishable food items, fresh produce and protein items, the equivalent of more than 14 million meals, to at least 420 partner organizations across the state.
