The 2007 tax rate has been set at $10.91 per $1,000 of assessed value, an increase of 17 cents above the 2006 tax rate, but about 10-cents less than projected last month .
The town portion of the tax rate fell nine cents, from $3.79 to $3.70. Last month, when the Selectboard set the overlay, or funds raised by taxes and earmarked for tax abatements, at $75,000 and applied $650,000 of the undesignated fund balance against the total tax commitment, Brenda Vittner, director of administrative services, projected the town portion of the tax rate would be $3.80 per $1,000.
As Vittner projected the local school tax was $3.86, an increase of six cents, while the state education property tax rose 13 cents, from $2.02 to $2.15. Finally the county tax increased from $1.13 to $1.20.
The total assessed valuation climbed from $1.898-billion to $1.918-billion.
