An excavator clears debris off the side of Meredith Neck Road on Friday afternoon. The road is open for two-way traffic over the weekend before returning to one-way while the top pavement work is completed. It is scheduled to fully reopen on Friday, Oct. 25. Sargent Corporation is working in collaboration with Ambrose Bros. and NH DOT on the project. Work included widening the road, rebuilding the stone bridge and replacement of a box culvert, which allows water to flow under the road and into Lake Winnipesaukee. A wider road also eliminated the need for guardrails. Much of the original stone was used when reconstructing the bridge. William French was the first to drive on Meredith Neck after it reopened. French loves the road and its beauty, and requested to be the first to drive on it.
