MOULTONBOROUGH — A Meredith resident involved in a car wreck in February has died, according to Moultonborough Police Chief Peter Beede Jr.

Officer Derek Jones was notified of a serious crash on Whittier Highway in front of the Village Kitchen restaurant at 4:39 p.m., on Feb. 27. Moultonborough police and fire departments and Stewart’s Ambulance Service responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, officers found both vehicles involved in the crash sustained extensive damage.

Upon further investigation, officers determined Mary Fahey, 83, of Meredith, was pulling out of Village Kitchen, and came directly into the path of Tessa McDerby, 29, of Conway. McDerby was traveling eastbound on Whittier, according to a police department release.

Both Fahey and her passenger, John Fahey, 87, also of Meredith, suffered serious injuries, and were taken by Stewart’s Ambulance to Concord Hospital-Laconia. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by John’s Towing.

Mary Fahey was deemed at-fault for the collision, for inattention and failure to yield to the right-of-way.

Police in Moultonborough learned John Fahey had died at 5:40 p.m., on March 10, due to the injuries from the February collision.

After consultation with the Carroll County Attorney’s Office, no charges will be filed, and the matter will be referred to the New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of Motor Vehicles, for administrative action.
