LACONIA — A local man has been indicted for three different sex crimes stemming from alleged actions with an underage teenager dating back seven years.
Arthur Roberts, 50, of 35 Manchester St., in Laconia, was indicted for pattern aggravated felonious sexual assault, prostitution, and 10 counts of manufacture of child abuse images.
According to the indictments handed up by the Belknap County grand jury, Roberts sexually assaulted a girl, aged 14 or 15, two or more times between Jan. 1, 2011, and Dec. 30, 2013. The prostitution indictment alleges Roberts provided the victim with gifts or money in return for sex. The manufacturing child abuse images allege that he took pornographic pictures of the victim on three different dates in 2015, when the victim was 17 years old.
Pattern aggravated felonious sexual assault is a Class A felony potentially punishable by 7½ to 15 years in prison. Prostitution is a Class B felony which carries the potential of a 3½- to seven-year prison term. Manufacturing of child abuse images (child pornography) is a special felony which is potentially punishable by a 15- to 30-year prison sentence.
