Richard Laflower, 33, of 369 Elm Street was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (subsequent offense) after he was reported driving a speeding van on two rims near South Main Street early Wednesday morning.

When police reached South Main Street around 3:15 a.m., they were initially unable to find the van. But, officers spotted the grooves left in the road by the rims and followed them first to Pine Street and then to Warren Street where they found the van idling in a driveway with Laflower behind the wheel.

Laflower was given field sobriety tests and arrested. The tracks left by the van were traced back to the rear of a business in downtown Belmont where police found indications that an accident occurred.

Laflower was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Laconia District Court on May 27.
