Three late-teenagers were arrested Wednesday night and now face charges related to a December 28 home invasion and assault. One of the suspects resisted arrest and was the subject of a significant foot chase in the general neighborhood of the original alleged crime.

By the end of the evening, Nicholas Wilmont, 18, who has no known address, Johnathan Hingey, 18, of 16 WInter Street (3) and Danielle Knight, 19, of 11 Winter Street were all in custody. Wilmont has been charged with robbery and resisting arrest, Hingey with robbery, and Knight with "criminal liability for conduct of another". All three refused bail and were taken to the Belknap County Jail.

In late December, police reported they were investigating the report that three men and a woman forced their way into an apartment at 23 Winter Street and assaulted the occupant. All four assailants were described as wearing ski masks and the victim reported being beaten as soon as they gained entrance. He was later treated for facial injuries at Lakes Region General Hospital.

Police said the four assailants neither used or displayed and weapons and they reported a belief that, despite the masks, the perpetrators were known to the victim.

On Wednesday, Officers Robert Sedgley and Justin Blanchette were attempting to serve an arrest warrant for Wilmont at 223 Union Avenue when he fled. After some time, and with the help of the K-9 unit, a different set of officers, Sergeant Sharon Cavanaugh and Trooper Vick Muzzey, were able to capture the suspect in the parking lot of the Community Center on Union Ave.

State Police also assisted in the later arrest of Hingey.

Knight was the last to be arrested.

Police say they are still conducting an active investigation of the original assault and ask that anyone who may have information to offer contact them at 524-5252. Anonymous tips may also be left on the Laconia Crimeline number at 527-1717.
