Due to an editing error, a story on page one of Monday's Daily Sun regarding the proposed dismissal of Alton police Officer Ed Correia was inaccurate. According to police reports, Selectman Pete Shibley had a dispute with Correia over Memorial Day weekend last year. Afterwards Shibley claimed that Correia had “backhanded” him. Correia said his conflict with Shibley arose after the selectman refused to cooperate with a police officer who was attempting to enforce traffic barriers and bumped the same officer with his vehicle. Shibley threatened to file assault charges against Correia but there is no record that he ever has.
