A silver diner car was transported from Bow to Lincoln up Interstate-93 by Geddes Building Mover, where it was placed on its foundation Monday morning. An additional section for the kitchen and more seating will be constructed there. This diner will be the first of the 17 Common Man restaurants to feature a drive-thru. Customers can call ahead or order online to pickup food from drive-thru. People can also order from a smaller menu of lighter meals and sides at the drive-thru. The silver dining car was originally used by Roger’s Redliner Diner in Portsmouth, and has since been purchased for use by the Common Man. In the year it took to get proper permitting for the new restaurant, the diner was stored at Geddes Building Mover in Bow. The new diner will be on the same lot as the Common Man restaurant in Lincoln, a mere 100 feet away. Common Man owner and founder Alex Ray said the dinner will provide a lunch option for the town, as Common Man Lincoln primarily serves dinner. “Now you have a choice of two places to go to. The diner that is for lunch, and the restaurant that is for dinner,” Ray said.
