City teenager arrested for threatening parents with knife at home

LACONIA — City police arrested a local teenager over the weekend who allegedly threatened his parents with knife while at their home on Lafayette Street.

Trenton McDonald, 19, of 94 Lafayette St. is charged with one count of felony criminal threatening and one count of being a felon in possession of a knife.

According to police affidavits, McDonald was at his parents' home on Sunday at 2:50 p.m. when he got into an argument with his mother about getting access to some money.

When his mother told him there was no way to access the money until Monday, he allegedly told her he was going to have to get it another way and demanded that she give him her phone.

His father went out to the back yard to phone the police and McDonald followed him outside. He allegedly pulled out a silver 3-inch-long knife and told his mother that if her husband called the police, he was "going to stick him."

McDonald's mother called the police for fear that her son would stab her husband, but when the teen learned the police were on their way, he allegedly ran into the woods behind his home.

McDonald's mother also told police that he is a convicted felon and isn't supposed to have any weapons.

Police found McDonald in the Union Avenue TD Bank North parking lot about 30 minutes after going to Lafayette Street and said he had a silver knife in his pocket when he was arrested.

McDonald was convicted of one count of armed robbery in Merrimack County Superior Court for his role in a December 2015 home invasion in Franklin. He is on probation.

In that case, McDonald was one of three people who entered a Franklin home with shotguns and threatened a man there to get money and drugs.
