A Belmont man, who allegedly assaulted and raped a 14 year-old girl then kept police at bay for four hours before he was arrested the next day, has been charged with nine more felonies.

Shayne Chase, 44, of 66 Scenic was originally arrested on October 22 and charged with two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, a class A felony, along with simple assault and resisting arrest both misdemeanors. After further investigation by the Belmont police, Chase has been charged with five additional counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, two counts of manufacturing child pornography and two counts of possessing child pornography, all class A felonies.

Chase is being held in Belknap County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail following his arraignment on the new charges in Laconia District Court on Monday. He is scheduled to appear in court for a probable cause hearing on the 11 felony and two misdemeanor charges next week.

Meanwhile, Belmont Police Chief Vincent Baiocchetti said that his department continues to pursue the investigation and anticipates that further charges may be filed. Baiocchetti urged anyone who may have information bearing on the case or on the identity of other victims to contact Detective Raechel Moulton at the Belmont Police Department, 267-8351.
