LACONIA — Happy Tails Dog Park of the Lakes Region, the nonprofit organization seeking to open a dog park in the south end of the city, is urging residents to support by participating in the fifth annual "Bark for Your Park Conest", sponsored by PetSafe.
The contest, which began earlier this month, will award a grand prize of $100,000 and four prizes of $25,000 to communities based on the size of their populations and the votes they can muster. Votes can be cast on-line at www.petsafe.net/barkforyourpark and at Facebook.com/petsafebrand. The 15 finalists will be announced on June 17.
"The contest is an exciting opportunity for us to be able to move forward with building an off-leash dog park on the land Laconia has indicated we can use for the park," said Ginny Martin, president of Happy Tails Dog Park of the Lakes Region. "Anyone can vote for our park so we would appreciate everyone's support to help make this park a reality."
