ALTON — An Alton police officer has been honored for his dedication to building better relationships between police and the community.

Officer Michael Beauchamp was honored with a community policing award presented by McDonald’s during a statewide Excellence in Law Enforcement fundraiser earlier this month.

“Whether it is his through his day-to-day interactions on patrol or simply stopping in to a business and conversing with community members, Officer Beauchamp is always making friends and reinforcing that the Alton Police Department is here to help and serve in any way needed,” said Alton Police Chief Ryan Heath.

Heath went on to say Beauchamp goes out of his way to check on families and businesses throughout the community, “which leaves a lasting and positive impression on many of the people he encounters.”

Beauchamp’s award is the second time this month an Alton officer has been honored. Last week Kristen Guest received the state’s D.A.R.E. Officer of the Year award.
