Position on issues
Broad-based sales tax: "We should look at all options to increase revenue so that the state can fund critical services. While I would probably be against a broad-based sales tax, we could look at a value added tax for certain things."
Broad-based income tax: "This has always been DOA in NH and there are other, less controversial, ways to raise revenue."
Business tax decrease: "We should look at all options to increase revenue so that the state can fund critical services. If we can do this without driving business away from the state, it might be an option."
Capital gains tax: "We should look at all options to increase revenue so that the state can fund critical services so this might be an option."
Minimum wage increase: "NH should have a minimum wage that is the same or close to that of our neighboring states."
Encourage local zoning changes for housing development: "This is an important step in developing affordable housing in the state, which is a critical need."
Increase funding for child care providers: "Yes, as long as it is carefully managed to ensure that the funds are not being wasted. This is critical need for single parents and families where both parents need to work."
Majority of public school funding through local property taxes: "We should look at all options to increase revenue so that the state can fund critical services, one of which is providing an excellent public education for our children. Thus, while property taxes provide much of the funding for schools, we should look at other options."
"Education Freedom Account" program: "There should be some support for parents who decide to home school or send their kids to private schools. However, there should also be income caps so that not too much funding is diverted from the public schools."
Marijuana legalization with home-growing, no sales: Undecided
Marijuana legalization with private sales: For
Marijuana legalization with state-run stores: "State-run cannabis stores would be a great source of revenue."
Repeal ban on abortion after 24 weeks: "If the fetus is viable outside the womb, abortion should be prohibited except for medical issues with the mother or fetus and these decisions should be left to the mother and her doctors. However, I'm not sure 24 weeks is the correct number since I think it's possible for a fetus younger than 24 weeks to survive outside the womb."
Guarantee right to abortion before 24 weeks: "If the fetus is viable outside the womb, abortion should be prohibited except for medical issues with the mother or fetus and these decisions should be left to the mother and her doctors. However, I'm not sure 24 weeks is the correct number since I think it's possible for a fetus younger than 24 weeks to survive outside the womb."
Ban abortion during 2nd trimester: "If the fetus is viable outside the womb, abortion should be prohibited except for medical issues with the mother or fetus and these decisions should be left to the mother and her doctors. However, I'm not sure 24 weeks is the correct number since I think it's possible for a fetus younger than 24 weeks to survive outside the womb."
Ban abortion during 1st trimester: "If the fetus is viable outside the womb, abortion should be prohibited except for medical issues with the mother or fetus and these decisions should be left to the mother and her doctors. However, I'm not sure 24 weeks is the correct number since I think it's possible for a fetus younger than 24 weeks to survive outside the womb."
Protection for interstate travel related to gender, abortion: "Residents of other states should not be prosecuted for getting care in NH that is not allowed in their home state."
Stricter gun laws: "Universal background checks and Red Flag law."
Require local immigration enforcement: No response
Climate change action: "Absolutely. We should do everything we can to encourage people to 'go green' with renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, etc. We need to combat climate change and preserve the environment for future generations. It's also an economic issue since we need to maintain the natural beauty of NH for tourism."
Expand net metering opportunities: "Customers who are providing power to the grid (and I'm one since I have solar panels on my house) should be reimbursed at a fair rate for this. This is not only a matter of fairness but it will hopefully encourage more people to invest in green energy."
Conditional, affidavit ballots for new voters: "This is a reasonable way to ensure that only people who are eligible to vote but don't have the necessary documentation (e.g. college students) readily available can still exercise their right to vote."
