GILFORD — There were no injuries after a small plane came down on the runway with its landing gear still up on Sunday at Laconia Municipal Airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash of the amphibious aircraft.
“It’s a boat when it’s on the water; it has a narrow keel. It coasted or slid down the runway a couple of hundred feet to the stop,” according to Marv Everson, airport manager.
There was minor damage to the plane’s keel.
A pilot and passenger were on board, and there were no injuries, according to Everson.
The runaway was closed for about 45 minutes to clean up debris from the crash.
The Bureau of Aeronautics and Bangor FAA Flight District Office responded to the crash, as well as local authorities.
There were two plane crashes late last summer at the airport, both involving landing gear mishaps, according to Everson, also with no injuries.
