Thank the wheel! A mother and daughter duo on Wheel of Fortune won the game thanks to a lucky spin on the final puzzle.
Myrtle Beach Family Week, which featured three teams of two, ended on Wheel of Fortune on May 8. Brothers Sawi and Singh Gill solved the first toss-up.
They played against mother and daughter duo Sandy Graham and Deb Sutton, and sisters Samantha and Hannah Shank. The Shanks are two of five siblings, three of whom are adopted. They solved the second toss-up.
The Gills solved the “Before & After” puzzle — “Father-In-Law Clerk” — for $2,000. They had the lead with $3,000.
During the next round, all three teams landed on Bankrupt. The Shanks came from the Mystery Wedge that they had decided to pick up. The Gills solved “Butterscotch Bread Pudding” for $9,000.
Graham and Sutton rode the Express Train during the prize puzzle round. They racked up $10,750 before guessing a “C” and going Bankrupt, since it wasn’t in the puzzle.
The Gills only guessed one letter before solving “Shaking Sand Out of Your Towel Near Me.” The sisters won a trip to Cambodia, giving them the lead with $17,000.
Graham and Sutton, who do almost everything together, solved one of the three Triple Toss-ups. The Gills solved the other two.
The Gill brothers spun $5,000 for the final puzzle, making each letter $6,000. This made it anyone’s game.
Graham and Sutton went to the bonus round after putting $24,000 in their bank just from the final round when they solved “Sculpture Gallery.” The duo moved from third place to first place with a total of $26,000.
The Gills left with $13,000. The Shanks took home $17,000.
Graham and Sutton chose “Food & Drink” for their Bonus Round category. Sutton brought her husband with her.
The pair was given “R,S,T,L,N, and E” by the game show. They rounded out their puzzle with “B,D,C, and I.”
The puzzle then looked like “_ _ IC_ BITES.” The duo quickly solved “Quick Bites.” There was $45,000 in the envelope, so they took home $71,000.
“It’s always great to see all three contestants (or teams in this case) finish the game with five figures,” a Reddit user said.
“What a great episode, a lot of fun,” another wrote.
“Second time this week the game was decided by a 6K!” a third added.
