NBC News’ Today was once again the only morning show to post week-over-week gains for the week of May 25 as it held onto the top spot in the fierce ratings battle.
According to AdWeek, citing Nielsen’s national live+same-day big data plus program ratings for the week of May 25, Today averaged 2.95 million total viewers and 597,000 viewers in the coveted Adults 25-54 demo. While the show was down 1 percent in total viewers compared to the week prior, it was up 6 percent in the key demo.
Today, co-hosted by Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin, was also up significantly on the same period in 2025, with total viewers up 15 percent and the demo up 10 percent.
ABC News’ Good Morning America held onto the No. 2 spot, averaging 2.678 million total viewers and 425,000 demo viewers for the week of May 25. Compared to the week before, the show was down 2 percent in total viewers and down 3 percent in the key demo.
GMA, co-hosted by Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan, was up year over year in total viewers, with a 2 percent increase. However, it was down 9 percent in the demo.
Meanwhile, CBS Mornings continued to trail, averaging 1.757 million total viewers and 282,000 demo viewers for the week of May 25. This was down 7 percent in total viewers and down 12 percent in the demo compared to the previous week.
Compared to last year, CBS Mornings, hosted by Gayle King and Nate Burleson, was down 4 percent in total viewers and down 18 percent in the demo. It was the only show to be down across both measured categories in the year-over-year comparison.
