One of the best parts of The Price Is Right is when the contestants get to meet host Drew Carey. In a recent episode one contestant was seemingly overwhelmed with excitement as she shrieked and was speechless when she met the host on stage.
Sarah Fitzhugh won the third item up for bid, which was an inflatable two-person rowboat and dock. She bid $2,375, which was the highest bid. The actual price was $2,648.
When Fitzhugh realized that she won, she bent down and shrieked into her hands. She cried as she walked onto the stage. The Price Is Right contestant’s hand shook as Drew Carey took it to help her on the stage. Fitzhugh screamed, closed her eyes, and put her hand on her heart as Carey embraced her in a side hug.
“Welcome to The Price Is Right!” Carey said.
“Thank you!” the contestant squeaked.
She got to play a game called Now or Then for a chance to win a trip to Australia. The way the game works is there are six grocery items divided into slices. The contestant has to guess if the price listed below was the current price or the price from back then, which in this case was December 2013.
In order to win, the contestant has to get three slices next to each other lit up. They can be in any order and any color.
Fitzhugh started with the Purex laundry detergent and said that the price of $5.49 was the current price. She got it wrong since it was the “Then” price.
For her second item, she picked the feta cheese Greek yogurt. It was priced at $7.99, and she said it was the “Now” price, which she was correct on. The top slice lit up.
The bag of Air Heads Supreme was priced at $2.99, and Fitzhugh said it was the “Now” price. She was right, so she got another slice lit up, but they weren’t next to each other.
She picked the frozen jumbo butterfly shrimp, which was right in between the Greek yogurt and the candy. It was priced at $10.99, and Fitzhugh said it was the “Now” price. She was right, so she won the trip.
Fitzhugh threw her hands up, jumped, and then began to screech again as she took Carey’s hand.
When Fitzhugh spun a .60 during the Showcase Showdown round, she screamed again. She advanced to the Showcase since she had to beat a .55.
Fitzhugh’s Showcase featured an electric scooter, a bedroom set with air purifiers, and a KIA car. She bid $32,900. The actual price was $28,654. Both contestants went over the price, so neither of them won.
