GILFORD — Grady Shoemaker, 20, of Laconia, and Renee Privitera, 63, of Belmont, have been identified as the two people who died in a three-car crash Friday afternoon, according to Deputy Police Chief Dustin Parent.
The accident happened on the Route 3/11 bypass.
Privitera was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Wayne Privitera, 65, of Belmont, who was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The relationship between the two is unknown.
Lisa Sasseville, 65, of Gilford, was also treated at the scene for minor injuries. Sasseville and Shoemaker were driving in their own vehicles.
According to Parent, at 3:16 p.m. on Nov. 14, the accident happened when one of the cars crossed the center line. It's not yet known which vehicle, or vehicles, crossed over into the oncoming lane.
A photographer at the scene reported there were two vehicles in a ditch off the side of the road, and an SUV with rear damage facing south in the northbound lane. Two cars could be seen with debris scattered around. There was damage to the southbound lane’s guardrail, as well.
The accident caused the bypass to be closed until almost 7:40 p.m. on Friday, and police were advising drivers to seek alternate routes.
Parent said the cause of the crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed as of Saturday afternoon.
This is the second fatal accident on the Route 3/11 bypass in 16 months, after drivers from Bristol and Farmington died in a head-on collision on July 13, 2024.
