Paradise‘s Season 2 finale raised plenty of new questions surrounding the unfolding story, and while the penultimate episode showcased a seemingly deadly scuffle for Jane (Nicole Brydon Bloom) and Dr. Torabi (Sarah Shahi), a quick cut in the finale’s closing minutes hinted at a fake-out.

The main question being raised is whether or not Jane really did die after being stabbed by Dr. Torabi, and if she didn’t, had she managed to escape the titular bunker before it imploded? A glimpse at Dr. Torabi’s empty shower hints at the possibility, but fans will have to wait until Season 3 for definitive answers.

In the meantime, TV Insider caught up with episode writer John Hoberg, who offered his perspective on the events that unfolded, weighing in on whether he believes Jane is dead or not. “She looked really dead to me, is how I would say it,” Hoberg shared, acknowledging the demise viewers saw in Episode 7.

“We’re not dealing in the Terminator world or anything like that at all,” he adds. “Everybody’s a real human being, and they’re going through real human things. She’s an incredibly well-trained super agent, but Torabi got a knife in there… and [Jane] was also lying there for quite a while.”

Still, we’re not entirely convinced that she’s gone for good. After all, why show audience members the empty shower if she hadn’t lived? There’s a lot to ponder, and thankfully, because this series is a Dan Fogelman production, a character death isn’t the end for most performers’ runs onscreen.

Whether or not Jane survived, we’re fairly certain we haven’t seen the last of Jane, but let us know your theories about whether or not Jane could make a comeback in Season 3, alive and out for revenge after being stabbed by Dr. Torabi. Sound off in the comments section, and stay tuned for more on potential Season 3 answers in the months ahead.
