It’s been nearly one year since Jonathan Knight surprised fans with the news that Farmhouse Fixer had been canceled.
In late June 2025, the HGTV star took to Instagram to announce that his home renovation series with Kristina Crestin had not been picked up for a fourth season. “While I’m still processing the reasons that led to their decision, Kristina and I are so grateful for all your support over the past 3 seasons,” he said at the time. “Television has been so incredibly fun for us. We are so proud of what we created together and look forward to sharing what’s next for us.
Farmhouse Fixer ran for three seasons from 2021 to 2024 and followed Knight and Crestin as they gave new life to run-down farmhouses in New England. The show was one of several HGTV series to get the axe last year, including Bargain Block, Married to Real Estate, Izzy Does It, Christina on the Coast, and The Flipping El Moussas.
As Knight gears up for his HGTV return on the new show Crashers, he reflected on Farmhouse Fixer‘s cancellation in an interview with People published on Tuesday, June 2. “Farmhouse was the greatest show. That was my baby,” he told the outlet. “But on Farmhouse, it took 16 months for me to do the last season. It was so much time.”
Between working on the show and performing with New Kids on the Block, Knight said his schedule became too busy to handle. “We’d go on tour and I’d have to fly home [to Boston] on my days off and finish filming, and then fly right back to some city for a show,” he explained. “As fun as it was, it was just getting to be a lot. And finally it got to be where it was unsustainable for me.”

Despite being sad about the show’s end, Knight now views it as the right decision. “I think of Farmhouse like a classic movie. It’s out there, you can watch it on streaming anytime you want,” he stated.
Later this month, Knight will debut his latest HGTV series, Crashers, which is a reboot of the hit franchise made up of shows such as Kitchen Crashers and Yard Crashers. Like its predecessors, the series will follow Knight as he surprises homeowners with a free, 72-hour makeover of the space of their choosing.
“Before the work begins, the homeowners must agree to three rules: the renovation starts immediately; they have no say in the design; and they must vacate their home for the full three days,” the show’s official description reads. “Throughout the season Jon will complete jaw dropping whirlwind transformations, from beautiful backyards to dazzling kitchens, with the help of his team of skilled designers.”
Knight told People that his experience competing on Rock the Block prepared him for the “chaos” of Crashers. (Jonathan competed in Rock the Block Season 4 with Crestin and Season 6 with his brother, Jordan Knight.)
“We did a room a week on Rock the Block and now we’re doing a space here on this show in three days,” he said. “So I’m making things hard on myself!”
Crashers, Series Premiere, Monday, June 8, 10/9c, HGTV, Streaming Next Day on HBO Max
