The first season of The Boroughs offers a satisfying conclusion to the monster-hunting adventure its heroes go through, but could there still be more to the story?

The new series, from Stranger Things‘ Duffer Brothers, centers on a picturesque retirement community that is home to many dark secrets. When one of the residents dies from mysterious circumstances, the neighbors band together to uncover the twisty truth of what happened to him, and they do. But there is a cliffhanger ending that leaves room for more discovery to come…

So will The Boroughs return for Season 2? Read to find out what we know so far. Warning: Spoilers for The Boroughs Season 1 ahead!

Is The Boroughs renewed for Season 2?

Not yet. But given the Duffers’ history with Netflix, don’t be surprised if that changes sooner rather than later.

Who will star in The Boroughs Season 2?

The cast members whose characters survived the events of Season 1 are: Alfred Molina as Sam Cooper, Geena Davis as Renee, Alfre Woodard as Judy Daniels, Clarke Peters as Art Daniels, Jena Malone as Claire, Carlos Miranda as Paz Navarro, and Rafael Casal as Neil. Denis O’Hare‘s Wally Baker was also still alive but, presumably, soon to be afflicted with the return of his terminal cancer.

Those who presumably wouldn’t return for Season 2, since they died (or seemed to die) in the events of Season 1, are Seth Numrich as Blaine Shaw, Alice Kremelberg as Anneliese, Jane Kaczmarek as Lily Cooper (although she could certainly return again in flashbacks), Bill Pullman‘s Jack Willard, Ed Begley Jr. as Edward, Dee Wallace as Grace, Mousa Hussein Kraish as Dr. McGinnis, and Eric Edelstein as Hank Williams.

What will happen in The Boroughs Season 2?

No official plot details have been revealed for The Boroughs Season 2, but the Season 1 finale did offer a clue as to what might be ahead: As Sam checked his wound in the bathroom at his Boroughs home, the surface of the mirror began to glitch. He didn’t notice it, but that indicates there could be more supernatural elements to the place than they realized after the death of “Mother.”

About that twist, Alfred Molina told TV Insider, “It’s important for the story because I think we already had an eye towards what’s going to happen, maybe Season 2 — if it happens. ‘Where’s it going to go?’”

Plus, there could still be some hard feelings between Judy and Art, who struggled this season after she broke the cardinal rule of their open marriage (not to fall in love) with Jack. Clarke Peters guessed, “You might have to just wait and see what happens with us going forward because things have not totally been resolved. We know what’s going on, and if you have an open relationship, I imagine when it gets tested, then you know exactly where you stand. It was all right just playing, but love is selfish.”
