Thomas J. Gilbert, 72

GILMANTON — Thomas Joseph Gilbert, 72, died on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, at Concord Hospital in Concord after a short illness. Prior to his death, he was a resident of Golden Crest, a senior living community in Franklin, where he received the best attention and care for his needs.

Thomas was born on May 15, 1951, in Laconia, the son of Joseph L. and Francis L. (Terrace) Gilbert. He attended Laconia schools and graduated in 1970.

He went to work for Lewis and Saunders, an aerospace industry starting out in the shipping department and working his way up to become a computer tech. At this time, Tom went back to school and graduated with an associate degree in computer programing from Hesser College in Manchester. After leaving Lewis and Saunders, Tom struck out on his own as a contract programmer and did very well.

Thomas is predeceased by his parents, Joseph L. and Francis L. Gilbert and his daughter Erin E. Paradise.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna (Shastany) Gilbert; grandsons Konnor James Paradise and Kolin Joseph Paradise; sisters Janice Fournier, Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Mary and Fred Sorell, of Laconia, and Barbara and Ronald Dionne, of Laconia.

As per Tom’s wishes, there will be a graveside service for family and friends on  Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Union Cemetery, Academy Street, Laconia, NH, to celebrate his and his daughter Erin’s shared birthday.
