FRANKLIN — Shirley Ann (Fogg) Gilman, 66, of 335 Pleasant Street in Franklin died Sunday, February 22, 2004 at the CRVNA Hospice House in Concord following a period of failing health. She had been cared for at her home by her family and friends until only recently.

Shirley was born in Franklin, April 6, 1937, daughter of George and Alice Maude (Edmunds) Fogg. A lifelong resident of Franklin, Shirley attended schools here and graduated from Franklin High School in 1955. She was active with cheerleading while in school. She later attended a floral design school in Florida.

From 1970 until 1985 Shirley was employed as an administrative assistant at the Peabody Home in Franklin. In 1985 she and a close friend purchased the Blossom Shop in Franklin, retiring from floral design in 1998. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Franklin. Shirley enjoyed cross-stitch, crafts and her floral garden at home. She enjoyed time at her grandchildren’s sporting events, her doll collection and traveling with her husband, family and friends. She was of Roman Catholic Faith. She was predeceased by her first husband, George W. McDonald; and a son, Stephen G. McDonald, who died September 8, 1987. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Donald and David Fogg, and Charles Merrill; and by her sister, Doris Malle.

Her family includes her husband of 30 years, Robert B. Gilman of Franklin; her son, Brian F. McDonald of Franklin; two daughters, Kim M. Roberge and her husband, Jim, of Franklin, and Pamela A. McDonald of Franklin; four grandchildren, Jason McDonald of Rochester, Tiffany Lemire of Berlin, and Miles and Mason Roberge of Franklin; two sisters, Phylli (Fogg) Colcord of Franklin, and Dorothy Ackerman of Franklin; three brothers, Robert Fogg of N. Attleboro, Mass., William Merrill of Maryland and Richard Merrill of Concord; and nieces and nephews

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Belmont. Spring burial will be in Franklin Cemetery in Franklin.

The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton is assisting the Gilman family with arrangements.
