SANBORNTON — Saralee Wheeler, 78, died unexpectedly at her home in Sanbornton on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1938, in Laconia, the daughter of the late Everett “Bill” and Candace (Page) Wheeler.
Saralee graduated from Laconia High School in 1956 and went on to further her education at Boston University-Sargent College.
She graduated from Sargent College in 1960 and then taught physical education for 21 years in the Stoneham, Massachusetts, educational system. Saralee moved to Sanbornton and gained employment in the Belknap County Registry of Deeds. She retired from that position in 2011 after 28 years of service.
She is survived by her sister Janet Reister and her husband Barry of Avon Park, Florida; nieces Candace MacLean and husband Keith of Amesbury, Massachusetts, Tammy Reister of Spring Valley, New York, and nephew Christopher Reister and his wife Kirsten of Montgomery, New York; great-nieces, Madison MacLean and Alexis Reister; and great-nephew, Connor MacLean. She also leaves behind her three cats, Simon, Carley and Gabby, which she treated as if they were her children.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia.
