MEREDITH — Sally Shepherd Roper, 86, passed away on May 19, 2026, at Golden View Health Center Center.

Sally was born on Feb. 23, 1940, in Laconia, the daughter of Joseph and Doris (Brown) Roper. She spent her earlier years in Meredith, before moving to Littleton, where she graduated high school in 1958.

In her earlier career, Sally worked for Common Cause in Washington, D.C., and later for Pike Industries. After moving to Kennebunk, Maine, she worked for and eventually owned and operated Flaherty’s Clothing in Kennebunkport. After retirement, Sally returned to Laconia, to be near her family. She enjoyed boating, reading, gardening, skiing and spending time with her brothers, nieces and nephew.

Sally is survived by her brothers Don and Jay Roper; her nieces Tracy Poirot, Kim Dewsnap and Tess Weglarz; and her nephew Chip Roper. She was predeceased by her parents and her grandfather Shep Brown.

There will be no services, as burial will be private.
