GILFORD — Roland D. Decelle, 73, a summer resident of Dockham Shore Rd. entered into eternal rest Sunday, March 28, 2004 in North Port, Florida.

Born in Lowell, Mass., he was the son of Joseph F. and Anna R. Decelle. He was a graduate of Keith Academy in Lowell and Bentley College in Andover, Mass. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps form 1953 to 1955.

Mr. Decelle was a comptroller for Kraft Foods for 27 years which brought him to Connecticut, Puerto Rico, New Jersey and Allentown, Penn., where he settled with his family from 1972 to 2000.

After retiring from Kraft Foods, he built a thriving ice cream business, Rollie’s Ice Cream of Whitehall, Penn. and worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his second retirement in 1994.

Following this retirement, Roland and his wife of 44 years, Doris T. (McNamara) traveled extensively and spent their summers at their cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and their winters at their home in North Port, Fla., where they are members of San Pedro’s Catholic Church. Roland was beloved by his family and friends who affectionately called him Rollie, and he will be forever missed for his competitive card playing, graceful dancing, hearty laugh and great sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Doris; daughters, Sharon Fite of Bellevue, Wash., and Sandra D’Alessandro of Allentown, Penn.; sons, David of Santa Cruz, Calif. and Dennis of Nevada City, Calif.; a sister, Claire, of Winter Haven, Fla.; five grandchildren, A.J., Sean, Ryan and Katie Fite, and Nathan D’Alessandro. He is pre-deceased by a brother, Armand.

Calling hours will be held on Friday form 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Laconia. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington St., Lakeport. He will be interred at 1 p.m. in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
