Raymond J. Sleeper Jr., age 88, was born on Jan. 24, 1938, and passed away on Feb. 7, 2026.

He is preceded in passing by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marty and Margaret Cogan; wife Margaret Sleeper; daughter Donna Bricker; brothers Larry, Lester, Ted and Dallas; and sister Donna Lee.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife Priscilla Sleeper of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; son R. Scott (Patty) Sleeper of Canal Winchester, Ohio; stepchildren Karen (Tim) Ludwick of Meredith, and Cindy Amabile of Nottingham; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; siblings Marty (Carolyn) Cogan of Middletown, Virginia, Karen (Norm) Sedgley of Laconia, Dianne Nussbaum of Sidney, Ohio, and Dennis (Cindy) Cogan of Hartford, Vermont.

After graduating high school in 1956, Raymond proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for 21 years with tours in Turkey, Vietnam, twice in Germany, and three times in San Antonio, Texas. During his time in the Air Force, he was decorated five times with the USAF Commendation Medal. After the Air Force he was employed by Roadway Express for the next 20 years and retired in 1999.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, at the Southwest Freewill Baptist Church, 1542 Greenleaf Road, Columbus, Ohio.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the church on Tuesday, Feb. 17, with Pastor John Meade Sr. officiating and military honors to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Raymond’s name to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, t2t.org.
