MEREDITH — It is with a heavy heart that on Oct. 24, 2024, Nerada "Nene" Elizabeth (née Laramie) Prescott passed away peacefully at her daughter Jennifer’s home with her family by her side. She was 81 years old.
Nerada was born on June 26, 1943, in Laconia. She was the third child of eight children born to Armand J. and Phylis E. Laramie. She was named after her aunt, it’s an Indian name that means sunshine and beautiful fairies.
She went to Saint John’s School from first to eighth grade and graduated from Laconia High School in 1961. She worked at Laconia State School right after high school. She cleaned rooms at the Inn in Laconia, worked at Dunkin' Donuts, and also worked the food counter at JJ Newberry’s. She then stayed home to raise her kids for 12 years while working at home for Aavid Engineering. She went back to work at the State School then onto Fairview Group Home, then Forestview Manor, and back to Aavid retiring in 2008 to spend time with the love of her life, Donnie, until he passed in 2017.
Nene loved spending time with her family and having get togethers. She loved the holidays. Every day was her birthday. She used to love to cook and bake.
She leaves behind her son, William Prescott; her daughter, Bobbi Prescott; her son, Michael Prescott, and daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen; and her daughter, Jennifer and son-in-law, Mario Dion. She also leaves her grandchildren, Eric and Ashley Prescott, Benjamin Pregent, and Dalton Dion; her brothers Ronald Laramie, Michael Laramie (Sue), and Norman Laramie; sister Sherri Pickel (Tim) and her baby sister Gail Lindholm (Gary) whom she was very close to; a special sister-in-law Judi Davis; brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Della Prescott and John and Janice Prescott; and her lifelong best friend Dorothy (Gagnon) Weekley. If you knew Nene, you knew she enjoyed her tub of ice cream every single night. To honor her memory, enjoy a bowl of ice cream.
There will be no calling hours.
The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
We would like to thank the Lakes Region VNA and Hospice for everything they did for our mother.
