LACONIA — Michael T. Cleaves, 79, of Village Court, passed away peacefully, with Donna by his side, at his home after a long-term battle with Parkinson’s disease on Sunday, Oct. 15.
Mike was born on Aug. 30, 1944, in South Boston, Massachusetts. He was a longtime resident of Quincy, Massachusetts, most recently residing in Laconia.
Mike was previously a board member of the Savin Hill Yacht Club. He enjoyed downhill skiing. He was a boating enthusiast and loved to travel to the Caribbean islands with his girlfriend and many friends. He was part of the negotiating team for Local 2222. He retired from Avaya.
Mike’s legacy of love and kindness lives on through his longtime girlfriend, Donna Thompson.
Mike is treasured by his nieces, nephews and many friends who shared in so many happy memories. Mike touched many people throughout the years with his quick-witted comments and smiles.
Mike is survived by his loving girlfriend of over 40 years, Donna (Hamilton) Thompson; daughter Erin Rawdon and her husband, Gary, and their daughter; sister Bernadette Gauthier; sister-in-law Doreen Cleaves; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike is predeceased by his mother, Nora, and his brothers, Tom, Patrick and Danny.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., using the Carriage House entrance.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations in Mike’s name be made to the Lakes Region Visiting Nurse Association, 186 Waukewan St., Laconia, NH 03246.
