Marie Diane (née Johnson) Giunta of Sanbornton, passed away from a long battle with illnesses on Feb. 6, 2026, surrounded by family.

She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 9, 1958, to Robert and Marie Johnson. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, known for her loving kindness, a silly sense of humor, and love for her family.

A natural caretaker at her core, she dedicated her life to the service of others. Her home was a sanctuary where she raised her own children with complete devotion and welcomed their friends and her nieces and nephews with a heart of pure love. She lovingly cared for many children in the community, becoming a trusted babysitter for countless local families. She was fondly remembered for driving the little ones to and from school in her big Suburban or station wagons.

Her legacy of kindness reached its peak with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, with whom she cherished every moment. After her children graduated, she went to college for early childhood development and went on to work for over a decade at The Ark Learning Center in the infant room, touching countless lives with her genuine care and nurturing spirit. She found deep peace in the view from her home, taking joy in the mountains, the flower beds, and the wildlife and natural beauty that surrounded her.

Marie is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Guy; her children Guy, Marie, and Pasquale aka Patrick (Tabitha); her grandchildren Genevieve and Mila; her siblings, Robert (Kerin McLoughlin) of Methuen, Gertrude Dellorco (Robert) of Franklin, Laura Briggs of Plymouth, Francis (Sheilah) of Franklin, Diane Johnson-Landolphi (Mark) of Franklin, Richard (Mary) of Foxboro, and Thomas (Anne Marie) of Franklin; her in-laws, Louis (Loretta) of Dedham, Joe of Sanbornton, and Tony (Maryska) of Florida. Marie loved and appreciated her many nieces and nephews.

Marie was predeceased by her father Robert, her mother Marie, and her brother David Johnson.

A service celebrating her life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, at Smart Funeral Home in Tilton. Casual dress is welcomed. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Sacred Heart Church in Laconia, followed by a burial at the Giunta Cemetery off Giunta Drive in Sanbornton.
