MEREDITH — Lynn Akeroyd Bent, 83, of Meredith, passed away on Feb. 7, 2015.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on June 2, 1931, to Arthur and Phyllis (Halstead) Akeroyd, the family subsequently moved to Long Island, N.Y., Waban, Mass., and Newton, Mass., where Lynn graduated from Newton High School and Boston School of Dental Nursing. She subsequently attended Normandale College, Edina, Minn.
In 1955 Lynn married William MacFarland Metcalf and moved to Northfield, Minn., where their five children were born: Robert Arthur (wife Julie, twins Elsa and Jack), William MacFarland Jr. (wife Annette), Beth Anne Velasco (husband Al), and Jennifer Duffy (children Ryan and Lauren), all of whom survive her.
Lynn was married in 1975 to Herman A. Roeder and moved to San Jose, Calif. Mr. Roeder had three sons and two daughters, as well as seven grandchildren, all of whom survive her. Mr. Roeder passed away in 2001.
In December 2010 Lynn and George L. Bent were married in Trinity Episcopal Church in Meredith. They grew up together in Newton, Mass., and had known each other for 70 years. George also survives her.
She is survived by her sisters Gail Millett of Pawleys Island, S.C., and Jean Akeroyd- Rumble, San Francisco; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Meredith. The Rev. Robin Thomas Soller, officiating. Burial service will be held at a later date at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton, Mass.
