Lauris McGrath, 95 

MEREDITH — Lauris McGrath, wife of Roger McGrath, passed away at Forestview Manor on Thursday, Sept. 21, at the age of 95.

Lauris was born on April 29, 1928, in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

She married Roger on Nov. 23, 1946, and they made their home in Laconia. Upon Roger’s retirement, they became snowbirds, spending winters in Orlando, Florida. They had 75 years of marriage before Roger’s passing in 2022.

Lauris was active in her community and church. For many years she was involved with Camp Winsheblo, first as a director and then on the board of trustees. She oversaw it as a Girl Scout camp and later as a day camp for boys and girls. She was also a highly skilled seamstress and made over a hundred quilts, which she donated to Dartmouth Hospital and the Arnold Palmer Hospital in Florida. While her husband was mayor of Laconia, Lauris spearheaded many of the Habitat for Humanity projects throughout Laconia and Lakeport.

Lauris is survived by her daughter, Colleen Corriveau and her husband, Marc Corriveau of Laconia; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Corriveau, Jamie Spulick, Jonathan Hamilton, Jennifer Hamilton, Holly Babbit and Adam Piper; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lauris is predeceased by her husband, Roger; daughters, Cynthia McGrath Piper and Cheryl McGrath Hamilton; and a sister, Patricia Trickett.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the staff of Forestview Manor for the wonderful care that Lauris received during her residency.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m., at St. Andre Bessette Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., Laconia.

Burial will follow at the family plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia.

Memorial donations may be made in Lauris’ name to St. Andre Bessette Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 277 Union Ave., Laconia, NH 03246, or the Visiting Nurse Association, 780 North Main St., Laconia, NH 03246.
