ANDOVER — Larry H. Wilson, 77, of Andover, passed away peacefully Oct. 4, 2026, surrounded by family.

He was born in Franklin, to Maurice Wilson and Marion (née Hooper), and grew up in Hill. He graduated from Franklin High School and proudly served in the United States Army, with deployments to Vietnam and Iraq. His mechanical talents led him to work as an engine mechanic on Black Hawk and Huey helicopters. He took great pride in his work and approached it with the same attention to detail he brought to everything he did, including many years working as a skilled painter.

Larry was best known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and extraordinary artistic abilities. He was a gifted artist who loved to paint and draw. He spent many hours hand-carving beautiful, intricate birds out of simple blocks of wood. Larry also loved classic cars, especially his 1985 Monte Carlo, and spent many summer nights socializing at local cruise-ins. He was a passionate fisherman who spent many peaceful days along his favorite place, the Smith River, a place he knew well, and returned to often.

He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (née Burdette); daughters Vicky Canning (Scott) and Chris Campbell (Chuck); stepson Scott Welch (Gloria); stepdaughters Debbie Dziura (Chuck) and Stephanie Welch (Mark Jones); grandchildren Nathan Santti, Ashley Santti and Brady Canning; many step-grandchildren; sister Anne Blanchard; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin, followed by a 5:30 service.

A graveside service with military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. A celebration of life will follow.
