THORNTON — Katherine Priscilla Jones, 83, of Thornton, passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2025, at Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1942, in Thornton, to Viola (Applebee) and Herman Reitsma.
Katherine was educated locally and graduated from a one-room schoolhouse in Thornton. As a young woman, she was active in 4-H and the Thornton Grange. She spoke fondly of her early years spent working at Blake Mountain Cabins.
On June 24, 1967, she married Robert G. Jones at Campton Baptist Church. Together, they raised their family in Thornton.
Throughout her life, Katherine enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, and scrapbooking. Later in life, she found quiet joy in serving as one of Santa’s helpers, handing out small toys and stuffed animals to children at the Plymouth Walmart during the holiday season.
She is survived by her three children, Lisa Clark and her husband Jeff of Andover, Lori Nash and her husband Kevin of Gilford, and Kurtis Jones of Shelburne, Vermont; her grandchildren, Brendon, Keenan, Jacqueline and Madison; two great-granddaughters; her sister, Violet McCormick; and her brother, Paul Reitsma.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; her infant daughter, Suprina; her parents, Viola and Herman Reitsma; and her brothers, Albert, Arthur and Ralph.
The family would like to thank the staff at Belknap County Nursing Home for their loving care of Kay during her final years.
A graveside service will be held in the spring of 2026 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Thornton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
