John Garland, 86, passed on April 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on Jan. 9, 1940, to Clinton and Alice Garland of Campton. He married Nancy Jacques on July 25, 1964.
John graduated from Plymouth High School in 1958, and then joined the Navy, where he served proudly for four years. After returning to Campton, and marrying Nancy, he worked for several local construction companies, where he helped to build Interstates 89, 91 and 93 and various projects around New England. After “retiring” from construction work, he also sold heavy equipment. He then decided he wanted to be his own boss and purchased a tractor trailer and started working for EMS around New England.
John was a jack of all trades and he could fix anything. He built his own house where he and his family grew up. John enjoyed being creative, he learned to turn clay into some beautiful pottery that his family and friends have all gotten to enjoy. He also liked to make eclectic folk art that would be shown around the house and at the cottage. He liked to go on drives on his Harley with Nancy. He also had a passion for flying his powered parachute plane.
John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy; his two children, Deb Zampieri and her husband Darryl “Zippy” Zampieri, and Jeff and his wife Shereen. He had four granddaughters, Arianna McManus, her husband Ryan and their daughter Marina, Kennedy Garland and her boyfriend Chris Mcwain, Paislee Garland and her boyfriend Dustin Young, and Lilee Boivin and her husband Cristian. He is also survived by his brother Steve and his wife May. He has several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert Garland and sister Nancy Starrett.
Services will be held this summer.
