SANBORNTON — John "Papa" Andrew Doubleday, 66, of Drake Road in Sanbornton, passed away at his home on Feb. 9, 2026.

John was born on Dec. 15, 1959, in Laconia, the son of William Doubleday Sr. and Alice (Huckins) Doubleday.

John had worked for multiple construction companies in his younger years and later in life started his own business, Doubleday Dirtwork and Landscaping. He also is known for plowing and firewood.

John loved the outdoors. He shared stories for his love of sports, and hunting and fishing but never shared his hunting spots. He loved a good road trip and loved exploring the outdoors.

John is survived by three brothers, Bill and Rodney Doubleday of Tilton and Kim Doubleday of Canterbury. John also leaves behind his son, Tyson Dennis, and his wife Nicole Dennis of Sanbornton; grandchildren Ian Dennis, Keegan Dennis, Jillian Dennis, Michael Hoey and Mathew Hoey; and two great-grandchildren, Mason Hoey and Parker Hoey. John’s wife Kimberley Gonyer Dennis predeceased him in 2021 and their daughter Tasha Stitt had also predeceased them.

A calling hour will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. also at the funeral home.
