James F. Nault, a beloved member of the Northfield community, passed away peacefully on Oct. 22, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Laconia, James was a devoted husband, father and brother who touched the lives of many during his remarkable journey.
James proudly worked as a machinist at Aavid Engineering in Laconia, where his dedication and craftsmanship were valued for over four decades. He was also a life member of the Franklin VFW Post 1698 Auxiliary, and he liked to dance, play bingo and go to the senior center in Franklin. He will be remembered as a “jokester.” He used to hunt with Gary, who chased a pheasant around a tree. He knows Glenn will take care of mom and had a lot of special times with Crystopher and Owen, who will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Edna (Dunphe) Nault; his brother, George Nault, and his wife Nancy; and his sisters, Katherine Chainey and her husband Ron and Debbie Barrett and her husband George. He had three sons, Kenneth, James and Mike, and leaves several grandchildren in Manchester, seven grandchildren in Missouri, one in Gorham and one in Northfield. He also leaves his stepchildren, Glenn Eastman and his late wife, Anita, and Gary Eastman and his wife Amanda; and also one adopted daughter, Willow.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Dorothy (Baker) Nault, a brother, Richard Nault, and a granddaughter, Crystal Eastman.
In celebration of a life well-lived, a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, in Franklin Cemetery, Thompson Park in Franklin.
