FRANKLIN — Helen (Holly) Meyer Humphrey, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at the age of 81. She was a wonderful mother, Giggi, and friend.
Holly was born June 14, 1944, in New York, New York, to George Christian Meyer Jr. and Esther Paine Blodgett Meyer. Holly grew up in Great Neck, New York, and attended Buckley Country Day School. Her fondest memories in childhood were spending her summers in Swampscott, Massachusetts. She attended and graduated high school from Stoneleigh-Prospect Hill School.
In her early 20s, she lived in Boston, with friends and worked as a secretary. During this time she also met Terrance Warren Humphrey. Being the free spirit she was, Holly and Terrance moved to San Francisco, and lived in Haight-Ashbury, where they would be married. They would return to Massachusetts, for a few years where they would have their son, Thaddeus Warren Humphrey, on July 19, 1971. They all moved to Littleton, where Terrance would work as a teacher. This is also where their daughter, Alicia Anne Humphrey, was born March 11, 1975. Finally, the family would settle in Franklin, where her son Thaddeus would attend Spaulding Youth Center.
While in Franklin, Holly would spend her time as an amazingly devoted mother and wife. She took pride in volunteering for her community and serving for many years. Over the past 21 years, Holly’s greatest joy has been her granddaughters, Laryssa and Esther Humphrey. She has loved supporting them and watching them grow. She attended all musical and dance performances they were in and loved watching them on stage. Holly enjoyed many vacations with her children and grandchildren. Her community will miss her friendly smile and caring heart.
Holly is preceded by her husband, Terrance Warren Humphrey, her brother, George Christian Meyer III, her father, George Christian Meyer Jr., and mother Esther Paine Blodgett Meyer.
Holly is survived by her son, Thaddeus Warren Humphrey, and his caretakers, Chuck and Maria Goodale; her daughter, Alicia Anne Humphrey; her granddaughters, Laryssa and Esther Humphrey; and her siblings, Anne Wood and Nick Meyer, as well as their families.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
