MEREDITH — Gilda C. Keenan, 91, of Mountain Ridge Road, Meredith, died Nov. 14, 2014, at Lakes Region General Hospital, after a long illness.

Born in Norwood, Mass., on June 25, 1923, she was the daughter of Salvatore and Gimma (Omagrosse) Cisternelli.

Gilda grew up in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School. She had been a resident of Meredith since 1958. Gilda also was a winter resident of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for many years.

Gilda was a very big supporter of the Democratic Party and served the Town of Meredith as the supervisor of the checklist for many years. She was also a past member of the Meredith Altrusa Club.

Gilda was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" Vincent Keenan, who died in September 1995; her brothers, Guido and William Cisternelli; her sisters, Josephine Carbonette, Sylvia Varjian, Alba Masoney, Julie Sankey and Emma McMasters.

Gilda is survived by her sons, J. Kevin Keenan and his wife Barbara of Meredith, R. Gregory Keenan and his wife Cindy of Gilford; six grandchildren, Trevor Keenan of Exeter, Ashley Keenan of Meredith, Kevin Keenan of Meredith, Karen Schneider of Dover, Kory Keenan and Kris Keenan of Gilford; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Sonny Cisternelli, and her sister, Shirley Reardon, both of Walpole, Mass.; sister-in-laws, Claire Cisternelli of Walpole, Mass., Connie Cisternelli of Attleboro, Mass., Geraldine Oakes of Presque Isle, Maine; many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes 3 and 104, Meredith on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, Route 25, Meredith, on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. The Very Rev. Dennis J. Audet, V.F., pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Meredith Village Cemetery, Route 3, Meredith.
