CANTERBURY — Francis Frank Dow Sr., 85, passed away on Jan. 26, 2024.
Francis was born in Bridgewater, on Sept. 22, during the hurricane of 1938. He was the son of Frank and Thelma (Atwood) Dow. Francis grew up in Canterbury, on the family farm. He loved his tractors and heavy equipment. He worked as a logger and in the construction business. He sub-contracted with the State of New Hampshire for many years. He owned and operated Canterbury Salvage. He also worked in New Mexico as a lumberjack. He loved traveling going to Alaska, Canada and many places across the country.
Francis is survived by his significant other, Ellen Winch; sons Francis Jr. and Gary Dow; daughter Debbie; sisters Marian Lucas, Dale Hall and Aletha Trottier; three grandchildren, Jacob, Gavin and Diana Dow; and several nieces and nephews.
Francis was predeceased by his parents; a son, Richard; his sister, Shirley Brown; and his ex-wife, Mary Hollins.
Calling hours for Francis will be held at the Bennett Funeral Home on Feb. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Canterbury.
The Bennett Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
