Edward T. Farmer born on Nov. 9, 1948, passed away on Oct. 8, 2024. Ed was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, to the late Russell F. and Phyllis (Foster) Farmer. He was raised in Danbury.

Ed was the husband of Nancy (Wing) and father of Robert Farmer and later the husband of Laurace (Balfe) and stepfather of her sons Matt and Jason and stepdaughter Stacey.

He was the big brother of Russ (now deceased), Timothy, Phillip, and Peggy. He was brother-in-law to Debbie, Mary, and Louise and Uncle Ed to Sheryl, Jeff, James, Jason, Rebecca, Rania, Ian, Ivan, and Kayla.

He was also the grandfather to Jonathan Farmer, David Farmer and David’s wife (Ashley) along with two great-grandchildren Benjamin and Evelyn Farmer. Robin Farmer and wife Sierra Farmer, daughter Shyloh Farmer and son Quin Farmer.

Ed was educated in the Newfound school district. He served in the military in Vietnam as a combat engineer. He worked for the State of New Hampshire Hospital as a plumber assistant and youth mentor, he then worked for the State of NH DOT for a few years and after moving to Belmont in 1973, he ran for Belmont road agent where he was a longtime resident until his death.

He retired from Verizon after working as a lineman since Jan. 1, 1970, and throughout the years he co-owned Farmer Jones Carpentry, owned Farmers Portable Toilets and Septic Service and owned The Farmer’s Wife Candles. After retirement from Verizon he made deliveries for Laconia Electric Supply Company.

Ed loved his family and enjoyed his many friends. He spent countless hours at the home that he and his best friend designed and built along with caring for his animals and tending his gardens.

Ed’s family gathered to celebrate his life on Oct. 14, in a private ceremony.
