Edward "Ed, Fred, Johnny" Prentice, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on Aug. 7, at the age of 80.
He was a man defined by his deep love for his family, his infectious humor, and his unwavering loyalty to those he held dear. As a husband, Fred was devoted and gave Laura his unconditional support. They shared a love that stood the test of time, built on a foundation of trust, laughter, and mutual respect. Their bond was true and unbreakable.
The proud father of four daughters, Ed was the ultimate "girl dad." He adored all his girls and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Whether it was taking them “brook hopping” as kids, building them handcrafted furniture, or making them laugh with his legendary jokes, Ed was always there, ready with a big hug or a goofy grin.
Ed found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like spending time with his favorite sidekick, Buddy. Buddy was more than a pet, he was family, and Ed’s love for Buddy was a testament to Ed’s kind and nurturing spirit.
Ed was also a dependable friend, the type of person who would drop everything to lend a hand or a shoulder to lean on. His friends knew they could count on him for anything, whether it was practical help or just a good laugh — of which there were plenty. His sense of humor was absolutely his most defining trait. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, Ed had an uncanny ability to bring joy to any situation. His jokes, often delivered with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, were legendary, leaving those around him in stitches and lightening the mood no matter the circumstance. Ed leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty.
He is survived by his devoted wife Laura, his four beloved daughters Justine Prentice, Stephanie Margiotti, Stacy Yates and Stefanie Gray, and also by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and many close friends who will miss him dearly. Though his time with us was too short, the impact he made on those who knew him will last forever.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes, no formal service will be held. If you knew Ed and his family and would like to reach out to express condolences or share a memory, please do so. Laura and the girls would love to hear from you.
