Charles Forbes Gove Jr., age 53, is now home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus. Known to family and friends as CJ, he passed away peacefully at his home in Deltona, Florida, on March 17, 2024, after a long battle with health issues.
Born on Sept. 17, 1970, in Nashua, he resided in New Hampshire for several years before moving to Florida with his mother. CJ loved coming to New Hampshire to spend time with his dad and cousins swimming, hunting, fishing during summer and winter school vacations. One of his favorite spots was Loon Pond in Gilmanton. In winter he loved snowmobiling, though one day he skidded over a rock and scraped his face. This did not deter him; he got right back on the snowmobile and laughed it off.
When CJ was 15 he made a visit to New Hampshire and he and his dad, Charlie, went deer hunting. He shot his first deer, and his dad was so proud. As an adult, he would often go to Georgia with his friend Mike to hunt. He also loved riding his motorcycle and driving his Jeep.
He worked in a large Ford garage, doing body work and painting in Deltona. CJ worked there for many years until his health would no longer allow him to. CJ had a kind heart and treated everyone with respect.
He graduated class of 1988 from Trinity Christian Academy. During one of his Christmas visits to New Hampshire he attended church with his dad and stepmother at the Family Bible Church in Loudon. It was there that he gave his heart to Jesus and declared him to be his Lord and Savior. It was his faith in Christ that helped him cope with all his years of illness. It was also what gave him peace during his last days here on Earth.Â
CJ is survived by his son, Charles Forbes Gove III; a granddaughter, Sofia; his mother, Susan Halahan and her husband Douglas; his father, Charles Gove Sr. and his wife Jane; and a half-brother, Troy Gray. CJ also leaves behind several close cousins whom he loved dearly.Â
A memorial service will be held on March 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Family Bible Church, 676 Loudon Ridge Road, Loudon. A meal will be provided after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Family Bible Church Sunday School Renovation Fund.
The family wishes to thank all who have supported them through this journey. We praise God and all of you. Isaiah 40:31.
