Brenda M. Carrier, 84

Brenda Mae (Hammond) Carrier, 84, died July 15, 2026, at Sullivan County Health Care in Unity.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1942, at home in Albany, the daughter of Victor Hammond and Cora (Grandchamp) Hammond. She was the wife of 36 years to the late Hector Carrier. They were married on April 8, 1963, in Lakeport.

Brenda was a graduate of Kennett High School Class of 1960, Conway, then Laconia Hospital School of Nursing, graduating September 1963. She worked as a registered nurse for many years at Laconia Hospital.

She moved back to her family’s homestead in Albany in 1984. Brenda lived on her family’s land in Albany, almost her whole life except for the years in Laconia. She was very proud of the family heritage and instilled the love of home in her children and grandchildren. Brenda will be remembered for her love of her family and friends. They were the most important to her. She will be missed by her neighbors who enjoyed talking with her while she did her “rounds” through the neighborhood.

She was an avid outdoorswoman who found great joy in nature and an active life. She loved fishing and boating, hunting, swimming in the Swift River, camping, and hiking throughout the White Mountains. She also took great pride in her garden and enjoyed her daily walks around the neighborhood. Her walks became so familiar to those around her that she affectionately earned the nickname “The Neighborhood Watch.” Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and treasured family reunions and gatherings with her fellow nursing students. She also enjoyed the simple pleasure of working on puzzles, always appreciating the challenge and satisfaction of putting the pieces together.

The Carrier Family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the Mount Washington Valley Adult Day Care and Timberland Home Services. Without their caring help and services, we would not have been able to keep Brenda home as long as we did. We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at both Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia and Sullivan County Health Care in Unity. Your care, concern, support and love of Brenda’s “spiciness” made the transition for her and her family easier. We appreciate all you do for those in your care and their families.

She is survived by her brother, Frank Hammond of Ogden, Utah; her sister-in-law, Annette (Carrier) Quintilianni of Concord; her sons, Scott Carrier of Albany, and Steven Carrier and his wife Kathleen of Albany; and her grandsons, Nicholas Carrier of Mesa, Arizona, and Sean Carrier of Albany. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to MWV Adult Day Center in Center Conway.
