LACONIA — B. Scott Colbath Sr, 70, of 58 Whipple Avenue, died at his home on Wednesday, January 25, 2006. Scott was born January 8, 1936 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Charles and Ruth (Abbott) Colbath.
He was raised in Manchester, and was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1953. In 1957, he
graduated from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Honor Society and a member of the R.O.T.C .
Scott was a First Lieutenant in the U.S Army and served from 1957-1959.
In 1960, he moved to Laconia where he was a French and Spanish teacher at Laconia High School for twenty-eight years. Scott was a Class Advisor and was Head of the Language Department when he retired in 1988.
Scott was very active with many groups in the Lakes Region and was a member of the Laconia Historical
Society and a member of the Mt. Lebanon Lodge #32 F. & A. M. He was an avid photographer.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce S. Colbath Jr. of Laconia and David J. Colbath of Concord; two daughters, Kimberly Merck of Suwanee, Georgia and Debra Droney of Northfield; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a brother, James Colbath, of Dunbarton; one nephew; one niece; and his wife of thirty-two years, Cynthia (Macauley) Colbath, of Osprey, Florida.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2006 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the Carriage House of the
Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia.
A Funeral Service will follow the calling hours at 3:00 p.m., also at the Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Warren H.
Bouton, Pastor of the Laconia Congregational Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial
