ASHLAND — Antionette “Toni” Theresa Hughes, 85, of Ashland, passed away surrounded by family on Sept. 16, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 10, 1937, she was the daughter of Anthony and Isabel (Platukis) Olaski.
Toni was raised in West Hazleton, where she attended local schools. Following her school years, she enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1963-1965.

She was a hard-working factory worker and continued to work hard in her home and doing outside yard work following retirement. When she was not working, she enjoyed bird watching, playing bingo, going to the casino, and visiting her nieces, Kathy and Diane, in New Jersey. She enjoyed connecting with people, often striking up conversations with strangers. Toni was a devout Catholic and often attended church services and bazaars.
Toni is survived by her two sons, Jason K. Hughes and wife Martha (Bolduc) Hughes and their son Ryan of Campton, and Stephen L. Hughes and wife Crystal (Daigle) Hughes of Wallagrass, Maine. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Kendall Lloyd Hughes (2015); her parents, Anthony and Isabel; and her sister, Jean Motel and her husband Ted.
