LACONIA — Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative, the resident theater company of the Colonial Theatre, will put on a new event to take place in conjunction with its annual holiday production of “A Christmas Carol: the Musical Ghost Story.” On Saturday, Dec. 13, Powerhouse will debut “Fezziwig’s After Dark,” an adults only (21+) Christmas revelry at the Colonial.

Join Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig for an evening of debauchery and mayhem. Arrive at 6:30 p.m. for the pre-show hour to meet the hosts and take a selfie with them, grab a beverage at the Colonial bar, and socialize with fellow guests. At 7:30 p.m. the Fezziwigs will introduce the Circuit Breakers for an improv performance.

The Circuit Breakers is Powerhouse’s newest performance group, an improv troupe filled with community members who have participated in Powerhouse’s improv workshops or have other improv training. For those interested in joining the Circuit Breakers, auditions will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

After the improv performance, guests will have a chance to participate in an ugly Christmas sweater contest, which they can either wear to the event or bring with them, for the chance to get on the Colonial stage and win the audience’s applause.

The main event of the evening is a 45-minute “Christmas Carol” parody cabaret created and directed by Jenna Rogato and performed by members of Powerhouse’s “A Christmas Carol” cast.

Rogato, who also appears as a phantom in the “A Christmas Carol” cast, said “Fezziwig’s After Dark was born and developed from jokes that cast members of ‘A Christmas Carol’ would make behind the scenes. The idea of bringing an audience in to share these jokes is so exciting to us. I’m going to speak for everyone when I say that we are all elated at the chance to let down our hair and have some adult fun together.”

Powerhouse Producer Bryan Halperin said, “Since we weren’t having a Saturday evening performance this year, we thought it was time to try this event which Jenna and the cast have been asking us to do for several years. This event is perfect for people who are all Christmas Caroled out and want something new or for people who can never get enough of ‘A Christmas Carol.’”

Tickets go on sale Friday at coloniallaconia.com or powerhousenh.org.
