MEREDITH — The Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra will close its 2015-2016 season with a pops concert on Saturday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. at Inter-Lakes Auditorium in Meredith.

Can you hear the Sound of Music? How about the breaking waves of South Pacific or sweeping winds of Oklahoma? Are you up for a little Cats, Phantom of the Opera, or a tad of Evita? This concert features the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Rodgers and Hammerstein, three geniuses of the modern musical landscape. Come enjoy lush orchestral arrangements of favorite Broadway classics performed by gifted music and theater performers from Plymouth State University under the direction of Emily Jaworski.

Jaworski, one of New Hampshire's consummate musicians and artists, who has performed with the LRSO in previous seasons, will lead a group of vocalists from PSU bringing the likes of "Phantom" alive. Joining Jaworski are Sarah Kelly, class of 2018, Jakob Stone, 2017, and Matthew Scala, 2018. These three performers have had roles in productions that include "A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum", "Parade", "A Man of No Importance", "The Threepenny Opera", and "The Wedding Singer". In 2014, Kelly placed in the Young Artists Competition with the Boston Symphony Orchestra; Stone is an amateur composer; and Scala currently holds the PSU Choral Fellowship under Dr. Dan Perkins. Collectively, these performers will deliver a memorable concert performance.

This concert is the fifth and final of the LRSO's 2015-2016 season. The orchestra would like to thank all of its patrons for their supporting this year, keeping orchestral music live and well in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Next year's season will be announced soon, join the mailing list at www.LRSO.org or follow the orchestra on Facebook at LRSO1.
