This time of year, people are generally divided into two categories: those who can’t get enough of the election coverage and those can’t wait for it to end. Luckily, The Winnipesaukee Playhouse is offering choices for both over the Columbus Day weekend.

For the politically minded, comedian Brian Longwell will present commentary on politics and the election with his humorous show, Why Vote? Presented as a lecture gone bad complete with cheesy overhead slides, Why Vote takes a candid look at the American electoral process with particular jibes at the New Hampshire voter. Brian Longwell has worked for years as a professional comedian on the club circuit performing at venues such as Catch A Rising Star, The LA Laugh Factory, PSNBC in New York, and clubs across the country in between. Why Vote was performed to great acclaim this summer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Those who can’t get enough election commentary, as well as those looking for a good laugh, should join Brian on Saturday, October 9 at 8 p.m.

For those looking for a little escapism from the election coverage, two of Boston’s most dynamic singers, Carol O’Shaughnessy and Jan Peters will be performing That’s Entertainment: The Music of Judy Garland and Liza Minelli on Sunday, October 10 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. IRNE Award Winners O'Shaughnessy and Peters (Boston's Best Female Cabaret Artists 2003) are joining forces to bring your favourite Judy and Liza show stoppers to The Winni Playhouse. Expect to hear favorite songs including ‘’S Wonderful’, ‘Cabaret’ and the beautiful ‘The Man That Got Away’.
